Tether Cars

Tether Car
Tether cars
are small, gas-powered model racing cars which are connected to a central post by a steel cable and run in a circular motion at very high speeds, reportedly up to 214 mph! Tether cars are known as the fastest model race cars and they can achieve such high speeds because of their internal engines which run on methanol or nitro fuel.

Tether car models were built as early as the 1930s and were originally made by hobbyists. Manufacturers such as Dooling Brothers, Bremer, Fryco, McCoy, Cox, Duromatic etc created commercial models which are in high demand today and often command premium prices. Tether car racing waned in the 1950s but is on the comeback for the new millennium.
