The Tamiya Sand Scorcher, is a highly sought after vintage off-road vehicle. Originally released in 1979, it’s not uncommon to find unused models selling for over a thousand dollars. RC cars developed on the Sand Scorcher platform were made mostly of metal, which although making it a bit heavier than other rc models meant these models are more durable than rc cars made from plastic. Also unique to the Tamiya Sand Scorcher is the fact that most of the onboard electronics are enclosed in a waterproof housing, which means you can drive the Sand Scorcher through water!!!! The body of most Sand Scorchers are highly detailed replicas of the Volkswagen Baja Beetle. You also have the Monster Beetle and the Blitzer Beetle. The Tamiya Sand Scorcher won’t win you any points for speed, but the durability and the fact that you can run this rc car through water without damage make this one of the most desirable rc cars on the market.
