Tether Cars

Tether cars are small, gas-powered model racing cars which are connected to a central post by a steel cable and run in a circular motion at very high speeds, reportedly up to 214 mph! Tether cars are known as the fastest model race cars and they can achieve such high speeds because of their internal engines which run on methanol or nitro fuel.

Tether car models were built as early as the 1930s and were originally made by hobbyists. Manufacturers such as Dooling Brothers, Bremer, Fryco, McCoy, Cox, Duromatic etc created commercial models which are in high demand today and often command premium prices. Tether car racing waned in the 1950s but is on the comeback for the new millennium.

Trex 700 Nitro Combo

Tamiya King Tiger

The Tiger, aka the Panzerkampfwagen is one of the most formidable weapons of World War II. Produced by Germany, production of the Tiger ran from 1942 to 1944. The Tiger was a very heavy tank and what it lost in mobility was more than made up by the superior firepower and armor protection it provided. Tamiya spared no detail on their reproduction, called the Tamiya King Tiger. The King Tiger tank has a full range of motion and you can even raise the turret up and down. The firing of the cannon is so powerful it even causes the tank to recoil! To add to the authenticity of the model, Tamiya tracked down the only real-life working model in the world,  currently housed at a museum and recorded the engine sounds which were added to the Tamiya King Tiger.

Tamiya Knight Hauler

The Tamiya Knight Hauler is a 1/14 scale item with a number of features painstakingly rendered as realistically as possible. Tamiya Hilux

The Tamiya Hilux Highlift is one of the most popular trucks of all time. This fact wasn't lost on Tamiya as they developed the Tamiya Hilux featuring a Toyota pickup body mounted on the same chassis as the Ford F350 high-lift. Like the Tamiya Sand Scorcher, the Tamiya Hilux is one of the most realistic rc reproductions ever. A 3-speed transmission allows you to drive the hilux at extremely low speeds and there are also a lot of metal parts involved which means the Tamiya Hilux are very durable models. The large tires give the Hilux High-lift a lot of ground clearance and Tamiya even threw in surfboards replicas to make the Toyota Hilux even more realistic!

Tamiya Sand Scorcher

The Tamiya Sand Scorcher, is a highly sought after vintage off-road vehicle. Originally released in 1979, it's not uncommon to find unused models selling for over a thousand dollars. RC cars developed on the Sand Scorcher platform were made mostly of metal, which although making it a bit heavier than other rc models meant these models are more durable than rc cars made from plastic.  Also unique to the Tamiya Sand Scorcher is the fact that most of the onboard electronics are enclosed in a waterproof housing, which means you can drive the Sand Scorcher through water!!!! The body of most Sand Scorchers are highly detailed replicas of the Volkswagen Baja Beetle. You also have the Monster Beetle and the Blitzer Beetle.
